Happy August to you! I celebrated my birthday on 8/1/2023 and I am learning to be still and listen. Have you ever allowed so much noise in your life that you have to listen hard to even hear yourself? I know I have.
Yesterday, I started to hear these words, “Define the moment.” You may have heard previously that in certain situations that this is, “The Defining Moment.” One puts us in control and the other is determined by someone or something else. There are times in our lives when we have reached a crossroad. Perhaps we arrive at this crossroad with divorce, the passing of a loved one, a lost job, etc. Those moments are like gut punches in the flow of life. Define The Moment Mundset puts you back in control instead of having a crossroad deciding where you go from here.
Think about it. At the crossroad where you have a hard stop by any of what I mentioned, you can feel helpless. It is only natural to feel that way. Again, “Define The Moment.” Puts you back in the driving seat for your own life. Have you thought if you didn’t make a decision and ignored what needs to be done that it will just work itself out? Yes, I have done this many times.
In my last post, I talked about being afraid. Fear can also place you at a crossroad and you become paralyzed and lose the ability to make a decision, even if that decision will progress you one step forward.
Ask yourself, “What does this moment in my life say to Me?” Am I changing and I need to own that? Do I need to see this transition for what it is and decide how it works for me? Or is this moment simply a time when I need to put myself, my heart, my needs, and my wants, first? I think this last part is where many of us stop in place. Taking care of yourself is sometimes the last thing on your to-do list. You go about the day, the month running and pushing yourself into exhaustion. You don’t even realize frustration, fatigue and even fear can be the symptoms that tell you that you must, Define the moment for yourself.
This is how Defining The Moment and Define the moment differ, at least for me.
Where are you in life right now?
- Are you feeling burned out?
- What does your heart need?
- What do you need to let go of to have the peace you need?
- Are you needing to make a decision to move you one step forward?
- What does it mean to you, to embrace this moment for what it was and make a decision that best suits you?
Your answer is how you choose to Define the moment instead of it defining life for you.
This is your moment and you get to decide what to do with it. As simple as it sounds, it is not easy when you are used to allowing the shifts of life to determine where you go from here. Today, I just stopped by to tell you, the crossroad is here in this moment and the choice is in your hands.
Let me know in the comments if this resonates with you and how. I would love to hear your thoughts. Let’s talk it out.
Let's have a heart-to-heart! 😊
